Roll 2d6 for, or choose or make up on your own, a query to establish a rapid link between yours & one of the other characters. Choose & ask a player, chat it over before or during the game, and write it on your sheet. Doesn’t have to be elaborate. You, your chosen player, or even the GM, should look for opportunities to roleplay your chains.
2. How did you save my life, but leave me mad about it?
3. What’s that rumour you heard about me but you don’t know whether it’s true or not?
4. Weren’t you on that bin fire of a job I was on, the one that went real bad real fast? What was it about again?
5. During downtime, what do you like to talk about or do or play with me, and why’s it always me?
6. You carelessly blabbed to me about something you fear but keep secret. What was it, and why’s it so hush hush?
7. I owe you a small favour or lost an amusing bet. What is it, and how did it come about?
8. What do we share a love or total hatred of, and what’s our plan to do something about it?
9. Where were we both kicked out of once? And why?
10. Are we related? Like cousins, maybe? Or wait, your mum definitely knew my dad, right?...
11. What’s that weird thing you asked me to do if you ever failed to make it to the end of the day?
12. Not sure we’ve ever met, but who do you seem convinced that I am, and why won’t you believe me?
Nothing mechanical is attached to your chains. It’s just to get you and the others a little more bonded at the start of a game, or whenever you introduce a new character.
try to make sure everyone in the group’s got at least one chain with another character.
